Hi

Hats of to the developer for such a fantastic tool for website and also for keeping it free .

I had download FlipzIV and came to know that it does not have TTX aka Text To Speech Module .

Don't be disappointed i have got a solution for it .

You will need 2 other softwares for it
1. 2nd speech converter ( http://www.zero2000.com/)
2. Audacity ( http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)
3. FlipzIV

2nd speech converter
First Type the text in 2nd speech converter and export it as WAV format . Its has got various voices . You can set speech speed and pitch to get best results.  Although its not free you can still export full length wav or mp3 file . It will just add a Promotion Audio before your wav file .

Audacity
So here we need audacity to edit the file and remove the promotional audio from the exported file (from 2nd speech converter)

FlipzIV
1st choose the character type the same text which u have used in 2nd speech converter . Select load audio option to select the saves  wav file from audacity . Select the USE SCRIPT TEXT option and then generate .

YOUR R DONE

Its very easy and simple .

If you are stuck u can mail me at neadvantage@gmail.com  to free support . If i am free i would answer your queries otherwise best of luck

Bye .

Hi,

I want to thank you for bringing this technology to the web,  it's a wonderful thing when someone says it's free!

Hi, new to the group.. another fast way to get text to speech is to go to AT&T site here and it will generate a wave file in a few seconds, with a choice of voices.

cheers!

Unless I'm missing a trick the quality of the voices in the 2nd Speech Center software sound pretty awful.  The ATT site voices are a lot better (some more so than others) but still not really good enough for commercial use in my opinion - and you are supposed to pay if you plan to put the generated .wav files to commercial use.  Whichever way you do it, getting the Flipz lip synching to look good seems difficult.  I love Flipz and considering the fact that nothing much seems to have happened with the product for 3 or 4 years I thinks its amazing.  I just wish Andre would come back and work out a real strategy to take this thing forward.

PS Michael's code...

var background = 0
loadMovie("flipz.swf",_root,"GET");

...works fine for me except that what I really want to do is run an introductory Flash logo style .swf file at the top of my page, and then when it finishes I want it to "wake up" or "play" the flips.swf file which is on a different part of the page in its own <DIV> tag.

I'm sure Flash sites must do this all the time - anyone have any idea how?
